" I believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and I accept Him as my Lord and Savior."

Above  is a picture of our baptismal font which shares a prominent place at the side of our sanctuary. The Dove of Peace is shown in the mural.

"There is one body and one Spirit - just as you were called to one hope when you  were called - one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all."    Ephesians 4: 4-6

Baptism was one of the issues at the heart of the movement founded by Alexander and Thomas Campbell.  They believed that the only Scriptural form of baptism was baptism of adult believers by immersion, so that was the only form of baptism they practiced or accepted.

Over the years the position of our denomination on baptism has moved from that rigid interpretation to a position that accepts any public Christian baptism administered by any Christian community, either by immersion or by pouring that is recognized as completed by the administering church or congregation.  Continuing in our tradition of Scriptural authority, we look to Ephesians 4: 4-6 among other passages to support our present position.

We continue to baptize by immersion any who confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God and who accept Him as their Lord and Savior.

THE FONT

Words were spoken; Christ was near And, in my heart, Was awe and fear.

Water lapped, Encircling me And splashed about The baptist'ry.

Fighting fear I held my breath And, for a moment, Entered death.

For that moment Time stood still  As I was made Part of His will.

Through 'The Doorway' I have passed; My role in life Has now been cast.

Christ was with me All the while And on His face He wore a smile.

Cleansed in Him I rose anew; For all my sins He did subdue.

I'm a part of God's own Son. True Life for me Has just begun.

I walked in but Christ stepped out. Perhaps that's what  It's all about?
