THE PROCLAMATION:

For as often as we eat this bread  and drink this cup,

we proclaim the Lord's death until He comes again.

communion

The Christian Church (DOC) was born over the issue of closed communion.  Here at Second Christian Church the invitation is made not by us but by our Lord, Jesus Christ. No person will ever be 'inspected' by another before participation in the Lord's Supper.

Age, baptism (or lack thereof) are not qualifiers for participation.  A willingness to remember the Lord Jesus Christ and what he has done for us all is, and that is measured by the individual who hears the call of Christ to remembrance.

We celebrate the Lord's Supper at the end of every worship service.

Home Communion is taken to our shut-ins and hospitalized by the Elders of the congregation and is available upon request to those who would request it.

AT THY TABLE

We gather at Thy table, Lord,                                                                                                   As Thou wouldst have us do,                                                                                                       To seek out Thy sweet presence;                                                                                                 To share The Cross with You.

We ask that, once again, You bless                                                                                           This bread and wine we take                                                                                                      As Thou did bless that night before                                                                                         You suffered for our sake.

May they enrich our souls, O Lord,                                                                                            And help us each to grow                                                                                                      More worthy of Thy Love and Care                                                                                       That we are blessed to know.

Take us by the hand, O Lord,                                                                                                  And lead us in Thy way;                                                                                                          For, as we seek God's Kingdom,                                                                                               'Tis in Thy name we pray.

Amen
